Rescuers look for survivors following a devastating Russian attack on an apartment building in Dnipro.

Officials from Ukraine stated Sunday that rescuers continued their search for survivors in the rubble of an apartment building destroyed by a Russian missile strike in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro throughout the night.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in a Telegram post that 25 people, including a child, had perished in the attack on the city in south-central Ukraine while expressing his "condolences to relatives and friends" of the dead.

According to him, 43 individuals were missing and 73 people, including 13 children, were hurt. 39 had been saved, he added.

Senior official at Zelenskyy's office Kyrylo Tymoshenko stated in a separate post on his Telegram channel that 164 apartments were damaged and 72 were demolished as a result of the strike. He stated that work was "ongoing" at the location.

More many 400 people lived in this building and the surrounding area, therefore it is now required to relocate their occupants, he said, adding that more than 500 people were assisting with the rescue operations.

Tymoshenko added that the walkout, which occurred as many Ukrainians celebrated the traditional Old New Year and Orthodox New Year, claimed the lives of 21 individuals.
