In his first remarks following his cardiac attack, Damar Hamlin expresses gratitude to everyone for their support.

Damar Hamlin, a safety for the Buffalo Bills who is still recovering after a heart arrest, thanked the public for their support on Saturday and urged them to keep praying.

Hamlin expressed his gratitude for well-wishers who, he claimed, had aided in his recuperation in posts on Instagram and Twitter on Saturday.

Hamlin wrote on Instagram, "When you send real love out into the universe, it comes back to you three times as much." The outpouring of love has been overwhelming, but I appreciate each and every person who prayed for me and contacted out. Keep praying for me on the long journey!

Hamlin told fans in the messages—his first statement to the public following the event during Monday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals—that the incident will only make him more determined.

The 24-year-old was still in serious condition on Saturday, according to a joint statement from the Bills and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where Hamlin is receiving treatment.

The statement reads, "Damar is making continued progress in his recuperation but remains in critical condition. His neurological function is superb, and he still breathes on his own.

On Sunday, the New England Patriots will play at the Bills. According to the NFL, Buffalo players intend to wear jersey patches with Hamlin's number 3, showing their support for his recovery.

According to the league, Bills players intended to warm up in t-shirts bearing the slogan "Love for Damar 3." Every 30-yard line number will have a temporary "3" on the field at Highmark Stadium, according to the statement.

The NFL has thanked the first responders who sprung into action to assist Hamlin when he collapsed on Monday and has urged teams to deliver a statement before this weekend's games thanking the personnel engaged in his treatment.
