In a contentious, exciting rivalry, Manchester United defeats Manchester City.

After coming off the bench, Jack Grealish gave City the lead, but Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes scored late goals to give United the victory. Rashford was in an offside position when Fernandes scored the equalizer, and even though he didn't touch the ball, it was obvious that he was having an impact on the game.

The Red Devils have now triumphed in nine successive matches overall and in five straight Premier League contests. With 38 points, they are six points behind league leaders Arsenal and only one point behind second-place Manchester City.

While Pep Guardiola's defending champions have lost two straight games, been eliminated from the League Cup, and are now losing in the Manchester Derby, Erik ten Hag's team is still in the title chase. Simply put, they don't appear like themselves.

Offside drama as Red Devils adhere to their strategy and come back

Marcus Rashford may have technically been onside according to the letter of the rules, but there is no way he could not have affected the positioning of Manuel Akanji and City goalkeeper Ederson. Rashford's decision to go toward goal with the ball almost beneath his feet interfered with play and affected the placements of other players. Nevertheless, United's strategy versus City was outstanding and completely confused the defending champions. As the additional midfielder, Fred excelled in stopping De Bruyne as Casemiro and Bruno clipped long balls over the top for Rashford to sprint on to. The entire United team committed to the game plan, and Erik ten Hag made the appropriate substitutions, including Antony and Garnacho, who added further deception on the counter in the second half. United is in excellent shape and has a strong defense. They must be competing for the crown now.

Erik ten Hag praises Manchester United's "great spirit"

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, praised his team's spirit in a statement to BT Sport.

"We played pretty well in the first half. We played excellent defense and took advantage of our openings. At the half, we were ecstatic. After the break, we had to replace Martial because he was complaining and the game had altered. We weren't prepared when the city arrived. They succeeded. The team has such a strong sense of unity and confidence that we can come back and win the game. I'm quite pleased with the team's performance. We're moving in the right direction, and belief has returned. When playing teams like City, you must work without the ball. They possess the abilities to score goals in crucial moments. Today, we observed that. They only needed one error to score.
